So, I have approximately one and a half drawings left to do for $5 Character Portrait Days.  I hope to have a few hours to myself today in which to complete them.

As I've mentioned previously, I've been pouring a lot of time into helping with my grandmother, who has rather advanced Alzheimer's and has recently become unable to walk.  We have a wheelchair for her, but it doesn't fit through the doorways of this house; she also doesn't remember that she can't walk, and is constantly attempting to get up by herself.  She can hobble a few feet until her knee hurts her so badly that she can't go on, so we're afraid she'll hurt herself if she's not being constantly supervised.  Add to that the fact that she's having to take bathroom trips sometimes three or four times an hour, which requires hands-on help, and work with her becomes almost continuous.  So, for obvious reasons then, it's VERY difficult for any of my family to get any work done.  Hence the insanely slow turnaround time on the character portraits.

Her inability to walk is due to a sprained knee, according to her doctor, so we're all hoping that at least that will heal well enough for her to get around by herself again with the help of a walker or cane and not need constant supervision to keep her from attempting to walk.  The frequent bathroom trips also have a cause which is being treated.

At this point, I'm just very, very tired, as is the rest of my family.  My grandmother's having an extremely hard time with it as well, as she's always been a very independent woman.

I am considering making $5 Character Portrait Days a three day per week thing like I did this week, or possibly just a two-day thing (it is something of a sale or weekly special, since my normal price for a detailed grayscale drawing is $20).  It seems like it could do well, especially if I'm at a point where I can devote more time to it so the drawings don't take a day to complete.

When I've completed the rest of these drawings, I will post them here.

Just dropping a quick note here to let people know the other places I can be found online.

I have a more personal and fandom-oriented Livejournal here:  [livejournal.com profile] wander_realtai  I post a variety of things, using it as a rambling place.  I do a bit of fan art and occasionally fan fiction, mostly for the Doctor Who universe, though I may sometimes post things for other fandoms as well.  I also mirror a lot of my regular art there.

You guys can also find me on Facebook.  I've opened up my personal FB to the public, so you all are welcome to add.  I'm mostly just myself there, posting random links and videos and bits and pieces of thought that come to me throughout the day, as well as sharing art.  http://www.facebook.com/amylarobbins  I also have a fan page, http://www.facebook.com/pages/Amyla/172592886131341 though I don't do very much with it.

I'm also on Twitter, though I don't use it very often.  I go through spurts, actually.  @shadows_gallery
