The Sylph Completed!
At long last! After much frustration and some despondency, the result of a corrupted file, Sylph has been re-painted. It is now complete.

I am currently uploading the image to Zazzle, where it will be available on a variety of merchandise including prints, coffee mugs, mouse pads, clothing, and more. Links will be posted when available.
Look below the cut for a step-by-step illustrative process of how the painting was made, and a larger-sized watermarked final image!
I had saved several JPG versions of the old file, including the background, so I decided to work with the background I already had and re-draw the character.
My background:

The sketch:

I then layered the sketch on top of the background, lowered the opacity, and traced over it with the ink feature, using colored "inks." Then I made the sketch invisible, so only the inks showed atop the background.

I opened a new layer below the inks, and began to create midtone colors for my palette. Then I painted the midtones at 100% opacity, just flat base colors.

After that, working on multiple layers with different brush opacities, I began putting in light and shadow to the figure.

I finished up with the hair.
End result:
