After some careful thought and some very helpful input from the wonderful members of
crowdfunding, I've made some revisions to the crowdfunding model I'm creating for my paintings.
A number of good points were brought up in the community:
*the problematic nature of international shipping, which would eat up my funds
*the statement of one person that she'd rather not get Stuff as a perk but would prefer just to have the availability of the full sized download and perhaps a pre-sized wallpaper for computer, phone, etc.,
*the possibility that the intrusion of unforeseen circumstances could cause a substantial delay in project completion, despite payments already having been made. (Which is rather related to the fact that sometimes the time it takes me to complete a painting is very, very short, and other times is very, very long)
Bearing these points in mind, I've somewhat altered the possible steps for offering a painting to the community.
1) Make a number of sketches available for vote.
2) Start work on whichever painting was voted in.
3) Keep interest in the painting by posting updates.
4) When complete, post the watermarked, sized down project, and open it
for sponsorship.
*Sponsors receive the full sized download, wallpapers, etc.
*Sponsors who give $50 or more will be given the option to receive a 16x20 photo print of the image in addition to the downloads.
*If sponsorship goal is reached, the full sized download will be made available to the general public.
